The "DT"

Today during the assembly, they announced the new discipline teacher and that's me. After the assembly, there was indeed a big roar. Every classes that I went in today, the students expressed their surprise and nonacceptance responses to this new arrangement.

"WHY?????"
"Teacher, you are a 'traitor'"
"Teacher, can you resign from the new job?"
"Teacher, why did you join the dark side? Dark knight rises...."
"Teacher, did you ask to be one?"
...etc

There were so many questions and most of them are negative. I came home and asked myself, "was it that bad?"

I guess no one likes to be 'disciplined' or sometimes, do the 'discipline'.

One of my office-mates graciously mentioned that it's not easy to take up this position and there will be a gap between the discipline teacher and students. Some teachers are not willing to be in such condition.  This colleague also mentioned that when we became a dt, we are more aware of the power we have to educate and correct / shape the behaviours of students, which is one of the main goals in education.

As for the many "WHY?"
My say is this: Whether or not I am a dt, if you do something wrong or break the school rules, i will have to correct you. I'll still tell you to tuck in your shirt neatly, pull up your socks and respect your friends and teachers...etc.
